Jean-Luc Godard once said (when presented with an unclassifiable “César of honor”)—to those who considered him a "marginal" filmmaker—that "The margin is what holds the rest of the page together." We might add that the margin is where all notes, all translations, all reminders are made, where the reader's understanding and impressions are given form. We are attached to this margin, to these filmmakers—described in France as "underexposed"—and we try to offer them a platform: African filmmakers, authors as Jean-Daniel Pollet or Pierre Hébert who, declining to choose between documentary and fiction, open new paths that we gladly follow.

Convinced that every object, every support, brings its own stone to the reading of a work, we also publish, with the ÉDITIONS DE L'ŒIL, some books dedicated to these film-makers : L’ENTRE VUES and TOURS D’HORIZONS around Jean-Daniel Pollet, a title about Idrissa Ouedraogo in the collection les Carnets de la Création (and in the same collection, titles about Moustapha Alassane, Kadiatou Konaté, Kibushi Ndjate Wooto or Apitchapong Weerasethakul), but also books about Robert Breer (FILMS, FLOATS & PANORAMA), Walerian Borowczyk, Emile Cohl, or Jan Svankmejer (the awarded book BOUCHE À BOUCHE, winner in 2002 of the Henri-Ginet Price of the best cinema book)
